1. Cultural
Anthropologist
Archaeo Research Limited is looking
for a highly motivated cultural anthropologist to conduct applied
research in ethnography, ethnohistory, genealogy, aboriginal land
use and occupancy, potential aboriginal interests, and litigation
support. In addition, the incumbent may be required to serve
occasionally as an archaeological field assistant. This position is
based in Victoria, B.C., but will involve travel to locations in
British Columbia and likely outside British Columbia.
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
- undergraduate, but preferably a graduate, degree in cultural
anthropology or a closely related field
- a valid British Columbia driver´s licence
- a high level of physical fitness and no addictions to
nicotine, alcohol, marijuana, drugs or gambling
- competence using Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel,
Access and PowerPoint; competence in Adobe Illustrator,
genealogical software programs and/or GIS programs is also an
asset.
- experience in archival research on First Nations in British
Columbia
- general knowledge of the history of British Columbia
- general knowledge of the ethnography and ethnohistory of First
Nations in British Columbia
- experience in conducting research in First Nation communities
in British Columbia
- descriptive linguistics is desirable
- experience in writing focused, succinct, well organized
reports in consulting or postgraduate contexts (undergraduate term
papers are not considered relevant)
- experience in training First Nation researchers is
desirable

Salary is negotiable, based on the

Anthropologist

is looking for a highly motivated senior anthropologist to conduct applied
research in ethnography, ethnohistory and genealogy. Research projects
can involve reconstruction of the former social composition of aboriginal
groups; detailed studies of aboriginal land use and occupancy;
analysis of potential aboriginal interests in specific lands; and
litigation support in aboriginal court cases. The ability to design, carry out
and supervise thorough, objective research is essential. In addition,
the incumbent may be required to assist in archaeological projects. This
position is based in Victoria, B.C., but will involve travel to locations in
British Columbia and likely outside British
Columbia.

- MA or Ph.D in cultural anthropology or a related field, based
on a thesis or
dissertation (degrees based solely on course work are not
recognized); a B.A. degree with extensive research experience, including
